This 1966 Ford Cobra is a custom-built performance car that combines iconic styling with serious mechanical capability. Finished in silver with a black stripe, it sits low on a one-piece frame with a four-inch drop, giving it an aggressive and purposeful stance. The reinforced fiberglass body is complemented by stainless-steel side pipes, bumpers, roll bars, and fuel tank, along with Talbot Berlin 300 Senior chrome mirrors, all contributing to its classic Cobra appearance.
Power comes from an original, rebuilt 1966 427 Ford side-oiler V8, built on a marine block and showing approximately 300 miles since completion. The engine features solid lifters, dual-quad Holley carburetors, an Erson cam, Cobra Le Mans valve covers, a dual aluminum intake, and Edelbrock performance racing heads. Cooling is handled by an Edelbrock water pump and a custom four-core radiator with dual electric fans. Ignition has been upgraded with a complete MSD system, including distributor, coil, and 6AL box.
Power is sent through a Hurst Competition Plus shifter to a 4-speed Toploader 427 Cobra transmission (RUGAEC8 main case with C70 tailhousing), featuring a big input gear, 31-spline output shaft, and close-ratio gearing. The drivetrain is completed with a Ford 9” rear end equipped with posi traction and 3.55 gears, providing strong acceleration and control.
The suspension features coil-over adjustable shocks, and braking is handled by four-wheel disc brakes. Inside, the custom vinyl interior includes tailored seats along with a heater and defroster, making the car enjoyable in a variety of driving conditions.
This Cobra is a well-executed build that delivers authentic big-block performance, classic design, and modern drivability. A serious collector-quality Cobra built to be driven and appreciated.
